Indians sweep Oxnard, outscore the Dawgs 34-2

Game 1 - Indians 9, Dawgs 2

The Indians beat the Oxnard Dawgs Friday night 9-2 in the opener of a 3-game homestand. The two teams meet for a 12 and 4 doubleheader Saturday afternoon before the Indians open up a crucial 6 game set for the league title.

Santa Maria native and Chico State 1B Josh Meagher had a big night, going 3-5 with 3 RBI. Cody Smith also went 2-3 with 3 runs scored and a triple.

Pitcher Brendan McDonald got the win for the Indians, relieving Mickey Jannis in the 4th inning.

Following Saturday's game the Indians head to Thousand Oaks for a league game and then play 2 against the SLO Blues and finish the season with a 3 game set against the Santa Barbara Foresters which should decide the CCL title.

Game 2 - Indians 10, Dawgs 0 (7)

The Indians beat the Oxnard Dawgs after yet another strong pitching performance from Santa Maria native John Thomas. Thomas worked 6 scoreless innings to up his record to 5-0. Micah Spencer worked a 1-2-3 7th inning to close the door in the first game of a 7/7 inning doubleheader.
