The
Indians won the first game of their double-header
7-0 and their second 5-1 over the Clovis Outlaws.
The Indians struck first in the opening game when
Evan Wells singled to left driving in Will Campbell.
The next batter, Cory Morales, would would reach
base on an error by the Outlaw's shortstop. The
error advanced Wells to third and Morales to second.
Zane Chaves would drive in Wells and Morales on
a two out single. At the end of the third the
Indians had a 3-0 lead over the Outlaws.
The
Indians would tack on another four runs in the
fifth off the bat of Wes Dorrell who hit a grand
slam to deep right center field scoring Chavez,
Tyrese McDaniel, Morales, and himself making it
a 7-0 ballgame. The pitching staff for the Indians
did a great job in the first game holding the
Outlaws to only one hit in the game. Holden Sprague
started the game and is awarded the win. Sprague
threw three innings striking out four and allowing
no hits. Cody Walden and Josh Walter pitched two
innings each with Walden fanning two and Walter
three. Chavez went three for three driving in
two runs. Dorrell went one for three and drove
in four runs for the Indians. The final score
was Indians 7, Outlaws 0.
The
second game of the double header was all Indians
once again. The contest was short between the
two teams lasting two hours. The Indians struck
first in the bottom of the second off the bats
of Jeff Farnham and Jeremy Bamsey who each had
solo homers to put the Indians up 2-0.
The
Indians would get the rest of their runs in the
sixth off the bat of Bamsey once again who homered
to right scoring Chase Leavitt, Chavez, and himself.
The homerun would increase the Indians lead to
5-0. The Outlaws would score in the eighth but,
similar to the first game, the Indian's pitching
staff shut down the Outlaw's offense only allowing
one run and four hits. Nate Smith started the
game and got the win in a three inning effort.
Smith struckout four and didn't allow a hit. Diego
Soto and Steve Martlaro split the rest of the
pitching duties each throwing three innings, striking
out two, and allowing two hits. Chavez had another
great game at the plate going three for three
once again. Bamsey went two for three with two
homeruns and four runs batted in. The final score
was Indians 5, Outlaws 2.
