The
Indians pitching could not hold a 7-4 7th inning
lead Monday night against the SLO Rattlers at
Sinsheimer Stadium in San Luis Obispo.
The
Tribe grabbed the lead early in the second inning
when Cory Morales scored on Matt Angel's RBI double.
C Derek McLeod knocked in Angel with an RBI single
to give the Indians a 2-0 lead. The lead didn't
last for long as the Rattlers bounced back with
4 runs off starter Brendan McDonald. McDonald
threw three innings giving up 5 hits and 4 earned
runs.
The
Indians took the lead back 6-4 with 4 runs in
the fourth inning, all on singles. LF Kris Haycock,
filling in for Ben Caple who tweaked a hamstring
in the first, knocked in C Derek McLeod with a
single. SS Evan Wells followed with an RBI single
and he was knocked in by CF Will Campbell's RBI
single. 1B Wes Dorrell connected for his first
hit and RBI as an Indian, a shot to right field
that plated Campbell and gave the Indians a 6-4
lead.
Dorrell
drove in his second run of the night with a 7th
inning single to put the Indians up 7-4. However,
in the bottom half the Rattlers put up 4 runs
off Micah Spencer who was tagged for his second
loss of the week. Several of the balls were placed
right through the infield, as single after single
gave the Rattlers and 8-7 lead.
Closer
Kyle Tognazzini shut the door on the Indians to
give them their 6th loss on the season, 11-6 overall.
The Indians step back into league play Tuesday
night as they travel to Thousand Oaks to take
on the Conejo Oaks at Cal Lutheran University
(5PM).
