The
Indians were in mid-season form Wednesday night
at Elks field, pounding their CCL foe the Thousand
Oaks 17-1. The offense got off to a fast start,
setting up pitcher Mickey Jannis with a 9-1 lead
after three innings. Kyle Gerhart hit a towering
two-run homer in the bottom of the first and the
Tribe never looked back. Cory Morales collected
four hits and drove in two.
Mickey
Jannis picked up the win for the Tribe, his second
of the young campaign. He combined with Steve
Martlaro and Diego Soto for a three-hitter.
The win pushed the Indians' record to 7-4 overall
and 5-1 in CCL play. They will host the defending
national champion Santa Barbara Foresters tomorrow
night at 6pm at Elks field, the third game of
their current seven-game homestand.
