The
Indians overcame an 8th inning 3-0 deficit to
take two of three from the Thousand Oaks on Sunday.
Indians starter Diego Soto (Cochise College) gave
up one run and 6 hits in 5 innings.
The
Tribe was down 3-0 to open the eighth inning when
DH Blake Crosby (Sac State) took a fastball to
the left shoulder to start things off. Catcher
Zane Chavez (Indiana St) doubled to put runners
on second and third. After another hit batter,
RF Ben Caple (Indiana St) grounded a high chopper
which 3B Kevin Muno couldn't handle, scoring Crosby
and Chavez. Corey Morales (Northern Colorado)
followed Caple with a single through the left
side to tie the game at 3-3.
In
the ninth inning, the Indians rallied with two
outs when Zane Chavez reached on an error by SS
Danny Muno. Evan Wells (Gonzaga) was hit by a
pitch and Kyle Gerhart (New Mexico Highlands)
walked to load the bases for Caple yet again.
Caple took four straight fastballs high to walk
off with a walk.
Indians
reliever Cody Walden picked up the win for the
Indians with 2 innings of shutout baseball.
The
Indians face the defending national champion Santa
Barbara Foresters on Tuesday night at 6pm at Elks
