Indians drop series finale to Dodgers 7-4

In the Indians series finale against the Dodgers Sunday the Tribe fell 7-4 to the visiting Dodgers to open the 2007 weekend 2-1. The Indians took two of three in the non-league tuneup to Tuesday;s California Collegiate League opener Tuesday night against the rival San Luis Blues.

Indians starter Nate Smith (USC) went 4 innings giving up 4 runs on 6 hits. He was relieved by Hancock left hander Evan Fields who picked up the loss giving up 2 runs in 3 innings.

For the Dodgers, they were sparked by homeruns from Rich Roselli and a towering blast by AC Grable that cleared Miller Street behind the right field fence.

Despite putting up 15 runs in Saturday night's second game, the Indians were only able to muster 4 runs, 2 coming on a 2-run double by right fielder Kyle Gerhart.

The Indians open up league play Tuesday night against the SLO Blues at Elks Field and then head to Sinsheimer Stadium Wednesday before closing out the three game set Thursday night at Elks Field.
