Indians chosen in 2006 First Year Player Draft
Three Indians, one on this year's
2006 squad and two from the previous two seasons
were selected in the Major League Baseball Draft
June 6th and 7th.

Rosas was chosen in the 9th
round of Tuesday''s Major League Baseball Draft.
The left hander from Yavapai Junior College in
Arizona was the 271st overall selection by Washington
Nationals GM Jim Bowden and Scouting Director
Dana Brown. Rosas, from Cottonwood, Arizona was
rated as the 26th best prospect from Arizona coming
into the draft by Baseball America. Rosas went
9-1 with a 2.41 era for the National Junior College
Runner-Up Roughriders after pitching in over 78
innings with 58 strikeouts.

2004 Santa Maria Indian Jimmy
Van Ostrand from nearby Cal
Poly, San Luis Obispo was chosen in the 8th round
(249 overall) by the Houston Astros. The first
basemen who played his juco ball at local Allan
Hancock College lead the Big West Conference with
13 home runs.

Gilbert Buenrostro, a catcher
from Cuesta College was chosen Wednesday in the
20th round by the Minnesota Twins. The 606th overall
selection had a good season at Cuesta, making
the All-Conference first team.
