Indians sign 12 more

April 14 - The Santa Maria Indians have announced the signing of twelve more players to the 2008 roster.

The one local player signing with the Indians is freshman left hander Todd Simko from Arroyo Grande and Cuesta College. The 6'4 220 pound lefty has appeared in 9 games for the Cougars in 2008.

Returning to the Indians for his third consecutive summer is left hander TJ Statsny, originally from Durango, Colorado. Statsny was one of the Indians top lefties in 2006 and returned in 2007 after finishing his two year stint at Yavapai Junior College in Arizona. Statsny pitched in 18 games with a 1-0 record and a 4.73 era. He transferred to division two Mesa State University in the fall, and will be coming to the Tribe for his third straight summer.

Joining Statsny from Mesa State University is shortstop Matt Bodenchuck, and three right handed pitchers: Jason Fronczak, TJ Butch, and Andy Williams.

Accompanying assistant coach Ryan Ruiz from Central Arizona College to Santa Maria this summer are three position players and two pitchers. Ruiz is bringing over the Roughriders starting shortstop Jesus Arzaga, a sophomore from Mesa, Arizona. Joining Arzaga is OF Christian Johnson, C Danny Quiroz, and LHP Josh Spence.

Coming to the Indians from South Mountain CC is RHP Daniel Romero.
