Indians bats explode for a 13-5 win

(June 3) - The Santa Maria Indians (1-1) beat the Clovis Outlaws on Tuesday night 13-5 thanks to a grand slam from CF Jimmy Dodos. The Indians jumped on the board in the first inning when Matt Bodenchuck hit a sacrifice fly to score Dane McLaughlin. Jonathan Ramirez added a 2 RBI single to give the Indians a 3-0 1st inning lead.

Dodos' grand slam in the second inning gave Indians pitcher David Mittleberger a 7-0 cushion. Mittlerberger went 2 and 2/3 innings giving up 2 runs while walking four. He was relieved by TJ Statsny who went 2 and 2/3 innings and got the win.

Offensively from the Indians Jonathan Ramirez went 4-4 with 2 RBI and Josh Meagher also went 4-4 with an RBI and 3 runs scored. Manny Reyes added a 3-5 night with 2 RBI.

The Indians travel to San Luis Obispo Thursday night to take on the SLO Rattlers at 7:35pm in the California Collegiate League opener for both teams.
