Aug 5) - The Indians fell to the Seattle Studs
6-2 on Sunday night, ending their season and run
in the NBC World Series. The Tribe departed beautiful
Wichita, Kansas Monday and Tuesday and headed
to their respective schools. All the Indians were
very sad to be leaving Wichita and described their
short stay as one of the more exciting weeks of
their baseball career. Stay tuned - full game

Aug 4) - The Indians gave up three in the ninth
to fall to the Crestwood
(IL) Panthers
4-2 on Saturday in the second round of the NBC
World Series. Indians starter Holden Sprague pitched
effectively, giving up 3 hits and 1 run to hand
the ball over to reliever Brendan McDonald in
the 7th. McDonald faced 7 batters in 2 innings
to preserve the 2-1 lead.
The
Indians trailed 1-0 after the Panthers scored
in the top of the second on an RBI single. Will
Campbell reached in the bottom of the second with
a 1-out single With Tyrese McDaniel batting, Campbell
stole second to put himself in scoring position.
McDaniel lined a single up the middle, scoring
Campbell and tying the game at 1-1.
In
the 4th the Indians took the lead when SS Cory
Morales reached base on a hit by pitch. 3B Blake
Crosby singled to right field on a hit and run
to move Morales to third. Campbell walked to load
the bases, and with one out, RF Kyle Gerhart hit
an RBI groundout to short to bring home Morales.
The
Indians pitching held the lead heading into the
bottom of the ninth when the wheels fell off.
With hard throwing reliever Josh Walter on the
mound the first batter Mike Marshall hit a soft
bloop into short right field. 2B Evan Wells went
into shallow right to make a tough catch, and
the ball rattled out of his glove.
The
next pitch from Walter, Billy Storrs laid down
a bunt, and 3B Blake Crosby's throwing error scored
Marshall and moved to Storrs to third. Walter
walked the next batter and manager Scott Nickason
called on lefty John Thomas to close the door.
A single up the middle by the next batter gave
the Panthers a 3-2 lead and they added one more
on a groundout to SS Cory Morales.
The
Indians were unable to put anything across in
the bottom half of the ninth and now move on to
the loser's bracket to face the Seattle Studs
tomorrow. Once that time is announced we will

(Wed
Aug 1) - The Indians rallied from a 3-0 deficit
to win in 11 innings on a Kyle Gerhart 2 out,
2-run walk off home run. Gerhart pinch hit in
the 9th inning and singled up the middle and in
the bottom of the 11th inning, with Will Campbell
on first with a 2-out single, hit a blast over
the left field fence to walk off the Indians to
a 5-3 victory.
Indians
starter Nate Smith pitched the first 3 innings
and induced a one out groundout to 1B Jeremy Bamsey
who stepped on first and threw home high over
C Josh Thomas's head to score two, only one earned
to Smith. In the 4th the Cowboys Brandon Hall's
sacrifice fly to center made it 3-0.
In
the bottom of the fifth the Indians began their
charge back with a leadoff double by DH Ryan Overland
who scored on a Chase Leavitt RBI single. Leavitt
paced the Indians offense with a 4-6 night and
an RBI to raise his season average to .392.
In
the 6th, the Indians drew within one when Blake
Crosby walked and stole second to lead off the
inning. With one out, he moved to third on a groundout
to short by Tyrese McDaniel, and scored on a 2-out
opposite field single through the left side to
cut the lead to 3-2.
In
the 8th inning Will Campbell and Tyrese McDaniel
opened up the inning with back to back singles.
With the bases loaded and one out, C Josh Thomas
checked his swing on a 3-2 pitch for a walk, bringing
home Campbell to tie the game.
Cody
Smith pitched well for the Indians in relief of
Smith with 3 and 2/3 innings of scoreless ball.
He was replaced by Josh Walter who threw 2 scoreless
innings and John Thomas, making his first appearance
out of the pen, who finished off the game with
1 and 1/3 innings of scoreless ball for the win.
Will
Campbell went 2-4 and Blake Crosby 2-5 for the
Indians in the victory. The Tribe play the Crestwood
(IL) Panthers on Saturday, with the time to be
